In this one hour class we will come together to discuss the things that are causing us stress, practice some practical ways to combat these stressors, and learn how we can walk together in this as people of God. Register at the link below.
Licensed Professional Counselor, MMFT, LPC-S
I have been providing personal, marriage and family counseling for more than 20 years to clients dealing with stress, depression and anxiety, to clients seeking marriage and pre-marriage counseling, divorce recovery and working with blended families. Much of my practice is working with marriage and pre-marriage counseling couples, and people struggling with grief and trauma. A person’s grief journey is some of the most difficult emotional work they will do in life, affecting all areas of life: work, school, relationships and physical health. Your grief journey is unique; I am happy to walk with you.
I focus on supporting people, marriages and families in whatever issues impact their lives. Depression, anxiety, stress, communication, and affairs impact both individuals and families. Many of these issues involve difficult transitions (stepfamily struggles, divorce, moves, job) loss (death, relationships ending). When one person is hurting, everyone feels the struggle.
The World Health Organization has recently stated that Depression is now the leading cause of ill health and disability with more than 300 million suffering worldwide. Treating depression is complex and requires more than just medication. People need to learn skills and actions to manage life better. I can help.
High School Youth Minister / LPC-I
Christian was born and raised in Austin, and is thankful to consider it his lifelong home. As a youth and family pastor for the last 17 years, he has been so blessed to stand with teens and families through both joyful and difficult times and have seen first hand how difficult it is to be or raise a teenager in today’s world. The desire to help teens, young adults, and parents navigate these tough times, and the earnest belief that hope can be found in even the darkest of times is what led him to counseling.
Whether you have a desire for personal insight, a more peaceful home life, or stronger relationships, Christian would love to sit with you to see if, together, you can discover a path forward.
Mike did his formative training at the Marriage and Family Institute at Abilene Christian University and is a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. He is also a clinical fellow of the American Association of Marriage and Family Therapy(AAMFT) and an active member of Christian Counselors of Texas(CCT).
Mike has lived in Austin for 23 years and enjoys the many gifts this area has to offer, including beautiful country, outdoor activities, and plenty of options for good Texas BBQ.
“My main desire is to help you reach your goals. I find that those who are open to objectivity and a fresh perspective often see desired results sooner. However, sometimes just getting to this place can be a struggle. We can work on that as well. I believe spirituality and faith play a large part in discovering contentment. Incorporating this in our sessions is an option you can choose. Discovering how that applies to one’s situation can be both enlightening and empowering. I look forward to partnering with you on your journey.”
Middle School Youth Minister / Counseling Practicum Masters Student
Andrew is a native Texan and has called Austin home since 2015 when he joined the staff at Westover as one of their youth ministers. Through his working with students and their families, along with his experiences in getting his BA in Theatre, he has seen the importance of story in our lives. Not just the stories we live, but the stories we tell ourselves and the ones we see around us. Andrew’s goal in the counseling room (as well as outside of it) is to help others live authentically and successfully in their own stories by figuring out who they are and what role they play. Whether it be goal setting, realizing identity, working through grief, or anywhere in between, he would love to sit with you and work with you as he listens to your story.
While he is still in school and at the beginning of his counseling career, Andrew does not consider himself a beginner at walking with others through life. If the year 2020 has taught us anything, it’s that we can’t walk through life alone. Let’s walk together.
