Michelle Overman is a Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist  working as a counselor for students, faculty, and staff at Abilene Christian University. Before moving to Abilene in 2015, Michelle spent several years in Austin providing therapy for families, particularly teenagers. Michelle earned a Master of Marriage & Family Therapy and has been working in the field for 6 years. While attending ACU, Michelle met her husband Grant. In April of 2017, they dove into parenthood by welcoming their first child, Zachary.

Conference Topic: Why Your Teen Lives with a Phone in Their Face: A Parent’s
Guide to Social Media
Feel like your kids are constantly on their phones? Worried about what they are doing on their phones? Finding it difficult to understand why they feel they “need” it so much? This class will discuss the difficulties parents face when it comes to teens and their use of social media. We will focus on how families are impacted by it, why teens care about it, and we will discuss both the benefits and potential pitfalls of this type of technology.
